“Firstly I'd like to thank Nathan Peppercorn for all the work he has put in with the these young players over the last 6 years. It takes a lot of effort to run a team at any level and we are all very appreciative of his efforts in that time.
"As for the future, we are all delighted that Matt has agreed to take this role on. We are a club that has a proven record of giving young players a clear route into the 1st Team and they need to have someone that can help them to develop into young men that can make that step up. Matt has consistently shown at Loxwood that he can do just that and his principles of how the game should be played are totally in line with what we stand for here. "We are all looking forward to seeing the development of our young players both in their midweek league as well as part of the senior squad." |
On his appointment, Matt commented:

“I have had the privilege of being part of this wonderful club for over 10 years now and in that time I think everyone here knows how passionate I am about developing young players, not just with how they perform with the ball at their feet, but also how they carry themselves as young adults both as ambassadors of our club, and in the wider world.
"I am very fortunate to be offered this role and am thankful to Nathan for the groundwork he has already undertaken with this group and I look forward to building upon that. We will look to enhance the squad in the Summer starting with the trial match on 9th June, by which time my support team will be in place and announced. "Gareth (Neathey) and I have already spoken about how the two squads will work together throughout the season and I am excited at the opportunities that will provide for our young players and how we can offer a clear pathway into senior football that is all too rarely the case at this level." |
