YOUNG GUNS GOT FOR IT!

LOXWOOD YOUNG GUNS SHINE AGAIN IN NINE-GOAL THRILLER AGAINST EASTBOUR

Loxwood’s young guns shone once again as they edged out Eastbourne United in a nine-goal thriller at Plaistow Road on Saturday.

Magpies boss Mark Beard played eight under-18s from his academy as they clinched a dramatic 5-4 win to remain in the hunt for fourth place in the Premier Division.

It was the hosts who struck first as Rhyan Ramsey put them ahead on ten minutes. Ollie Moore missed a penalty, before, after a United player suffered a head injury and put the ball out, Harry Bachelor attempted to return it, but lofted the ball into the net.

Moore put Loxwood back ahead on 50 minutes, heading home a Ramsey cross and Sam Beard made it 4-2 as he broke from the halfway line.

Balio Camara pulled a goal back on 66 minutes, before 6ft 3in centre-back Clyde Jacques headed home Loxwood’s fifth. Dean Stevens did pull another goal back with 12 minutes left, but Loxwood held out.

Beard said: “It was one of those where even though it was 5-4, I felt pretty comfortable at all times. In the second half we took it to them scored some good goals although every time gave one away at the back.

“The young boys were brilliant. They did not let their size get in the way and played well, the way they have all season. I was really, really pleased. We could have dealt with their goals a bit better, but that’s experience.

Loxwood face Newhaven on Saturday for their final game of the season, with fourth place still up for grabs. Beard added: “All the experienced players will play and we will go there to give it a go and try and finish the season off on a high.”

YOUTH ARE DOING THE CLUB PROUD

YOUTH TEAMS AT LOXWOOD ARE ALL ENJOYING A TERRIFIC SEASON

A last kick of the match victory away to Crawley Down Gatwick was not the first time this season that a Loxwood side has been involved in last minute drama but at 90+8 I think Reece Hallard’s magnificent strike must rank right up there with Harvey Enticknap’s late normal time equalizer against Burgess Hill’s U18’s in the Sussex County cup semi-final, two great examples of Loxwood sides never giving up and playing until the very last second ……………….. it’s never over until the referee whistles.

This win means we needed a minimum of a draw from our last match v Shoreham to secure the U21 West division title or our nearest rival to drop a point, to win it in its inaugural year. Our nearest rival if they won all their matches can only draw level on points and would need to find an additional 24+ goals in their remaining 4 matches and require us to lose our last match. Clearly the lads didnt let us down and won convincingly (4-0) with goals from Pitcher, Haulkham and Barnard (2) – a proud moment for all their hard work and dedication. Matt Camp (manager) said ‘ the lads thoroughly deserved the title and they have been a pleasure to coach, guide and develop through the season’. They then duly drowned him on some ‘fizzy stuff’!

UNDER 21′S WIN SCFL U2 (WEST) LEAGUE TITLE

Our U21 squad won the SCFL U21 (West) league last week with a very convincing win in the final game (4-0) vs Shoreham with goals from Pritchard, Haulkham, and Barnard (2).

Understandably mass celebration ensued and the Club is very proud of the lads and management.

Matt Camp guided and managed them through the season and was duly rewarded with a good soaking of something fizzy!
